Week of 09/21/09

Thanks to the Jersey City Public Library System, The Bookmobile arrived last week.  The First Grade had the opportunity to go on board, sit on the carpet, and read favorite stories. One student exclaimed, "Wow! It's like the Magic School Bus!"  Everyone enjoyed this new experience. The Bookmobile will be coming to us every two weeks. Classroom teachers will let you know the schedule. We have provided you with applications for library cards in order to have children  take books out.

We will be participating on October 8th in Jumpstart's 4th annual Read for the Record campaign. We will be reading the book, The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle along with thousands of others in this international campaign to increase awareness on building strong literacy skills. Thank you for providing healthy birthday party treats! Please let your teacher know what day you are coming  and if you would like to stay in the class to read your child's favorite story. This is truly a treat for all and please no goody bags!

Miss Ducore’s Kindergarten enjoyed a beautiful, sunny afternoon on Friday walking to the Gussy Di Santo Park on Westside. As we returned to school, one student said, "This was the best day at school!"
