Week of 10/19/09

On Friday, Mrs. Caggiano's Kindergarten enjoyed a wonderful presentation by Rahul's Mom on the Indian tradition of Diwali. The students learned about the customs and decorated clay pots.  Our school is rich with many nationalities and it is important to share them with each other! We encourage all of you to participate.

October 30th is full of exciting activities!

First, The Tenafly Nature Center will be coming to the classrooms for a program on weather. Through demonstrations and experiments, the students will measure air pressure and investigate how and why weather changes.

In the afternoon our Fall Harvest Festival begins! Children will be asked to wear the fall colors to school: red, orange, brown, green, and, yellow. The gym will host various game stations for students. The FSA parent volunteers will help at each table with projects, such as, Scarecrow Relay Race, Pumpkin Seed Toss, Pass the Apple, and Face Painting to name a few of the nine. The FSA needs your help! Please look for the sign-up sheet or call the office.

Thank you to our creative staff to have created this fun day before Halloween!

Diwali

I heard all about this activity.  Every night Marlee brings me the candle and the pot to light!  She loves it!  Thanks for opening the children's eyes to this wonderful celebration.
